Aster

Like call and response in Jazz compositions, this quilt design is a response to the fabric provided by Moda for this challenge. Playing with scale, the neutral gingham background is an echo of the gingham fabric you see in the center of the flower. The flower itself is a play on the monochrome flowers found in the large floral print from Moda. The large floral print was not used whole but instead was used to create fussy-cut applique pieces and the gray outline of the Aster. Aster was designed for the 2021 QuiltCon Fabric Challenge for which is earned a 2nd Place Ribbon.
