Helpful Tips and Resources for Quilters

Quilting is vast. There are so many techniques and terminologies to know. Plus, two quilters can arrive at the same destination by taking a completely different path.

Whether you’re a beginning quilter or a seasoned pro, there is always room for you to learn a new technique or new approach to something you’ve done dozens of times. With that in mind, I’ve gathered tips and resources that I’ve found helpful in my quilting journey.

Foundation Paper Piecing

My favorite tools for foundation paper piecing:

  • CM Designs Add-a-Quarter Rulers

  • Dry clear glue sticks to help hold “Fabric 1” in place before you sew

  • Carol Doak's Foundation Paper, if I’m using the tear method

  • Cut Rite Heavy Duty Freezer Paper, if I’m using the no-tear method

quilt binding and backing

  • If you have a Juki TL and machine bind, I highly recommend using a Left Compensating foot to sew your binding down with a neat topstitch.
