Color connection

Color. Shape. Fabric. Thread. These are the fundamental elements of a quilt design. I wanted to take a new look at these elements, especially color and shape. Are there any new shapes in machine piecing? How do adjacent colors and the fabric type change a color’s appearance? As I began my exploration, I kept returned to a mercury glass garland that hung on my family's Christmas tree when I was a child. The oval beads were so pleasing in the way they caught the light. That play of light and color is what I hope this quilt evokes.

PDF quilt pattern available in my shop.
